Okay, so I’ll admit it before I even start writing anything…I’m an undercover nerd, techie, or geek, or whatever you want to call it. I say undercover because I’m a pro basketball player, and because people who know me, know that I am extra ‘cool’ too LOL. With that being said, I will proceed to rant and rave my newest discovery. I figured out how to post to my website that is powered through Joomla with Windows Live Writer. WLW is a program that is installed on your PC locally and allows you to post to your blogs. The reason I really like it is because it also downloads the style of your blog so you can preview what an actual post would look like according to the look of your blog, while you write.
It also has plenty of cool plug-ins that allow you to do extra stuff, like easily add tags, hyperlinks, photos, video, and a host of other things. It’s helpful to use a local program to write your blog posts because it’s a little easier than logging into your blog or website’s backend and writing a new article. WLW is also great for a multi-tasker like myself who has more than one blog to attend to, and may start a blog post, and need to save it before finishing it. With that being said. If any of you have a Joomla powered website and you’re using a Windows PC, here’s a link to a tutorial on how to get yourself up and running with WLW: Joomla+Windows Live Writer Tutorial. It’s pretty straightforward and provides the links to the Joomla plug-ins you’ll need as well as screenshots.I hope someone out there benefits from coming across this post, otherwise, it’s a test run for my first post from WLW.
